http://www.otisteaches.com/tutorials/update-domain-name-system-dns-tutorial-3/

In the last two videos, you learned how to get a free domain at Register.com and then you learned where to get free web hosting. In this video, I will teach you how to connect the two together. Currently your domain name is hosted somewhere different from your hosting account. The goal is to have visitors directed to your site where your files are hosted when they type in your domain name. Currently this can not be accomplished until you first update your domain name system (DNS).More…

The domain name system (DNS) is the way that Internet domain names are located and translated into Internet Protocol addresses. A domain name is a meaningful and easy-to-remember “handle” for an Internet address.

What is Domain Parking?

October 28th, 2008 by admin | No Comments | Filed in Expired Domain

Some people pmed me asking some questions, some beginners were confused about what does it mean, so here is it explained.

If you have a domain with some traffic, but you do not do anything with it, you can park it. This means that you will give your domain to a parking company, which will create a website full of ads on that domain, and you will be paid on a cpc basis. When visitors come to your website and press ads, you will be getting paid.

Some people inquire why should they park their domains instead of setting mfa sites on them or other kind of ads and just collect revenue

Some advantages of parking

-no need to design a website, the parking company will do it for you
-no need to host your website , the parking company will do it for you
-no need to put content on your website, parked domains are solely composed of ads.(You can not put adsense on a page without any content, for instance)
-the ctr on a parked page is way higher than those from mfa, because a parked page consists only of ads, so visitors have nothing else to do than click ads.
-you will get more clicks on a parked domains than on a mfa page, because many people heard about adsense and they know that they are ads, while on parked pages, people can barely realize that the page is full of ads, because ads and pages are highly customized, with pictures near them, and no trace of the famous “ads by google” or labels like “sponsored results” etc..
Even i have been tricked many times to confound a parked page with a real website and press the ads.
-you do not risk to get banned forever such as with adsense. IF you are banned in adsense, there is quite hard to get back in. If you are banned by a parking company, it is very easy to get back in at that company, and there are a lot of parked companies to test.
-the payment is done through paypal, and is much convenient than in adsense, at some companies you are paid twice per month, or on a net 5, net 10, or net 15 days. With adsense you have to wait at least one month to get paid for the previous month.
-you can have some niche not allowed by adsense, adult, gambling, pharma, etc..

Parking companies are very selective on the traffic they receive. They allow only type in or search engine traffic.

Expired Domain Traffic

October 28th, 2008 by admin | No Comments | Filed in Expired Domain

There are always advertisements for people selling expired domain traffic. I was wondering how they obtain the domains. Where can they get such information?

Actually, most domains that expire now are snatched up by the drop-catchers such as:

Pool.com
Namejet.com
Snapnames.com
Godaddy also has this service but I’ve never had any luck with them.

Nowadays, if a domain has any traffic at all or any history is snatched before it’s available for $7.99.

I would imagine the sites selling traffic have thousands, or tens of thousands of names generating traffic funning queries in multiple niches. I’m not sure how one would go about starting a service like this from scratch, unless you were reselling traffic.

This business’ too far gone those drop-catchers grab domains in an amazing way they wipe everything off the table and extremely fast!

I was so naive one day when I tried to watch a list of 4-letter domains in pending delete I was refreshing the whois info in every minute. Then all of the sudden every thing vanished …before my eyes.

Anyway old domain that have some PR or indexed in DMOZ are very valuable
you could get a huge instant traffic if you build a site on them.

As for selling traffic from an old domain that’s pretty ambiguous maybe they use some sort of redirection or …. I don’t know

You can get a great domain but the average now is $300 because it gets snatched up (usually by Pool these days) and then they have you in a bidding war where you have no idea what to bid so automatically you go as high as you can.

Thousands of great domain are included with the 30,000 or so that expire each day, but a one man show has no chance of grabbing them before one of the drop companies.

If you want to start an expired domain traffic biz, you’ll need to resell someones elses traffic or you’ll need to register about 10,000 domains.

October 24th, 2008 by admin | 12 Comments | Filed in Expired Domain

http://live.pirillo.com - Clint asks “Is it a good investment to block personal info from a whois lookup to see that I own the site. We tell our kids how dangerous it is to put personal info out there; does it apply to adults? My name, phone number and home address is out there for the world to see. What is safe to put out there? I just dont know what content to include, and what to omit.”
